Research Description

Our Laboratory studies tumor from different tissues and organs. Our cell lines are from squamous cell carcinoma, adenocarcinoma from breast and salivary glands, and fibrosarcoma

Left: Pleomorphic adenoma cells stained with hematoxylin-eosin (HE).
Right:Laminin molecule featuring its cruciform structure made up of 3 chains (α, β and γ) and some of its bioactive peptides.

We are currently investigating the role played by laminin and its bioactive peptide on tumor biology. Laminin is an important extracellular matrix protein, regulating cell growth and differentiation. Our studies are carried out with human cells derived from benign and malignant tumors. We have demonstrated that these cell lines are regulated by laminin and its derived peptides. These particular domains of laminin molecule are important for cell growth and differentiation, protease activity and invadopodia formation. We believe that our system would provide important information on tumor biology. Learn more about our work by clicking here.

Our samples are studied by morphologycal and biochemical methods.
