Resumo do Projeto

Thirteen years after the discovery of the first “small temporal RNA” (stRNAs), the small RNAs are considered expression modulators of extreme importance, adding a new level of complexity to our understanding about gene expression regulation. There are many recent contributions connecting the silencing machinery with the response to DNA damage. Our goal is to study the influence of miRNA silencing in the response to ultraviolet (UV)-induced damage in fibroblast cell lines. Furthermore, we are also interested in the in silico determination of the mechanisms controlled by miRNAs, with a special interest in miRNAs involved in the control of repair mechanism.
