This group develops work on graduation and research in the field of DNA damaged repair and their biological implications, such as cell death and mutagenesis. The lesions in the genetic material may be introduced by environmental agents (as those from pollution and even sunlight), genotoxic chemical products or also byproducts of the cellular metabolism, and they may be the main causes for, in humans, cancer formation or aging.
