Research abstract

C. crescentus is a model organism for cell cycle studies in prokaryotes. Its DNA repair mechanisms are, however, less studied and understood. C. crescentus genome has already been sequenced and several genes have been annotated as putative members of the genetic material integrity maintenance system. Even though, only few functional studies have been done. Therefore our objective is to bring more information about the DNA repair mechanisms in this organism. We also objective to analyze the implications of DNA damage to the singular cell cycle of this proteobacteria.
